Just learned that Mortal Skies – Modern War Air Combat Shooter by Erwin Jansen has just hit the app store. I’m a huge fan of shmups, and this game looks great. Here are is a gameplay video:

Game looks fantastic – despite reports of its difficulty. Probably going to pick it up sometime later this week. Hope you all enjoy it!

Hi,
Difficulty is fine by me. One thing to keep in mind is to start the level by always hitting the first squadrons of planes to get gun upgrades.
you only get weapon upgrades/powerups if you destroy a whole squadron of planes. So if you can’t shoot the whole squadron, just fly into them.
The good part is that that way you also collect Kamikaze achievements points.
I really like it, slick graphics and nice weapons (even a minigun)

Good to know, thanks Raf! Kind of funny to learn that the best strategy for a game where you fly an airplane is to ram other airplanes out of the sky.
Jerk maneuvers definitely do really well!
