    - Fun game to pick up and play
    - OpenFeint integration for social play
    - Achievements increase replayability

    - Control scheme isn’t customizable
    - On-screen action can be very hectic
    - Not too much depth

Shooting gallery-type game that has a great single player game with OpenFeint integration, could use a little more depth but a fun game that you should check out.

Studio Radiolaris have created a unique game in Zombies vs. Sheep, a shooting gallery-style game where you are in control of a sheep and you must shoot the hell out of zombies and a whole gaggle of other enemies and collect coins and raise your score. Sounds simple enough eh?

The Game

Earn coins to upgrade your abilities.
Earn coins to upgrade your abilities.

The controls for Zombies vs. Sheep are pretty simple, tilt the screen to move the sheep left and right, and tap the screen wherever you want to shoot. The aim of the game is to eliminate all of the enemies that pop onto the screen and collect coins, which allow you to upgrade your sheep’s speed and health, ammo, and explosive power. In addition, items will drop down from the sky such as assault rifles and extra hearts that make your life a little easier. Of course, a score is being kept at the same time which you can later submit to a global leaderboard.

There is an actual single player campaign, so to speak, where you go through several rounds of gameplay and new enemies are introduced at every turn. There are a huge variety of enemies that managed to rip me apart and I only got to the second boss! Speaking of which, there are actual boss fights at the end of each round which usually involve you madly tapping the screen and trying to avoid all of the craziness that is happening on the screen. I wish there were a way to change the control scheme from tilt to touch because sometimes it just wasn’t moving fast enough for me, which isn’t the easiest control scheme when the screen is going crazy and you’re tilting and tapping and losing your mind.

Graphics

Shoot out their arms and crotches!

Zombies vs. Sheep has a great art style where everything appears to be paper cutouts and the style is befitting of a shooting gallery filled with marionettes. I really enjoyed this aspect of the game the most because it is a very unique art style indeed, giving it an old school western feeling puppet show. In addition, the fact that you could blast off limbs from zombie marionettes was really amusing to me.

Sound

Zombies vs. Sheep has a great soundtrack that has a real cowboy feeling to it with a bit of hillbilly, which fits the game perfectly. The sound effects also give off a mechanical vibe which one again, complements the shooting gallery style of the game.

Additional Comments

More than I've achieved in life.
More than I’ve achieved in life.

Zombies vs. Sheep integrates OpenFeint, a social networking platform for the iPhone that allows players to chat with other players playing the game, other players on OpenFeint, submit scores to a leaderboard, see what achievements they have achieved, and see who else is playing the game. For a game that can be as competitive as Zombies vs. Sheep can become, OpenFeint is a great asset to have.

One thing I really wish Zombies vs. Sheep had was other modes other than the main “survival” mode. But taking a look at the OpenFeint scoreboards, one can really hope that future updates will bring different game modes that we can submit high scores to. Or… at least I’m hoping for that.

Conclusion

Zombies vs. Sheep is a really fun game to play, it is fast, exciting, and very competitive. Definitely one of those games you have to pick up, Studio Radiolaris did a fantastic job on Zombies vs. Sheep, and the possibilities for additional updates to the game are endless.
